We are very excited to announce that our website is live! For those of you that are new to Reactor Interactive and Sector 13, welcome! To those of you who have been with us for some time, we thank you for your support and we are excited to share this tremendous milestone with you.
Now that you’re witnessing the power of this fully armed and operational
battlestation website, we will be “rebooting” the blog as well. Our plan is to use the blog to give you a window into the goings on at Reactor Interactive, particularly as it relates to Sector 13, our first endeavor. So, the blog posts will range from information about the history and team at Reactor Interactive, background of Sector 13 as a universe, game progress updates, and some posts and video blogs directly from the Sector 13 developers.
Our greatest challenge in bringing the website to life is also the most critical part: the forums. Our hope is that the community forums will be become a vibrant community where people can talk strategy, swap war stories, and share hopes and dreams for the game with the developers. Additionally, the forums will be the “bleeding edge” of Sector 13 development news. So, if you want to the most up-to-date news AND the opportunity to help shape Sector 13, sign up and head over to the forums!
“So,” some may ask, “why is this blog ‘reboot’ necessary?” Well, Sector 13 as a concept has been in progress for over 10 years. Ryan and Drew began development in 2001 with a small group of volunteers, but due to some employment contracts, it was shelved. In 2012, those issues were in the rear view mirror, and development of Sector 13 began again in earnest. A larger, more diverse team has been assembled, and progress is happening in leaps and strides.
The final game will feature numerous, immersive and interactive combat environments, various multiplayer scenarios, a multitude of playable starfighters and capital ships, and weapons load-outs galore. Combine these aspects with controls that blend classic combat flight sim features with control layouts familiar to fans of today’s first person shooters, and Sector 13 becomes easy enough for the novice to have a good time, and diverse enough for the veteran player to stay engaged.
In addition to the rebooted blog and the new forums, we will continue to produce media pieces (screenshots of gameplay, final renders, videos, etc.) to allow you a glimpse into what’s coming. These will be available on our Facebook page, Twitter, and YouTube accounts as well as the website. Our hope is that through this combination of outlets, you will get as excited about the future of Sector 13 as we are!
